Dance
Programs - Rules & Regulations
Dress Code:
To keep the School professional, and to ensure dancers are properly dressed to get the most from their lessons, we are maintaining the dress code introduced two years ago.
Ballet pink tights, body suit, with short, 3/4 or long sleeves, t-shirt, bicycle shorts (optional),
leg warmers to the knee or white knee socks, (optional), hair up, Highland shoes, or gymnastics
shoes for beginners. No jewellery is to be worn.
(Most of these garments are widely available at the Bay, Zellers, Walmart, etc. Shoes and specialty items are available at Malabar and Brio. Both Malabar and Brio have our dress requirements.)
To Bring to Class:
All Dancers: Notebooks and pens
Primary/Beginners:
Skipping rope, 2 meter sticks
All Others: Jig shoes, skirt, swords
Attendance:
Please try to come to your classes at least 15 minutes early, so that you have time to change,
talk with your teacher, check the information table, and warm up. Remember to allow for possible
delays, such as traffic or weather. Consistent attendance will benefit your overall learning,
confidence and knowledge, and will ensure that you do not fall behind the rest of your class.
Absence:
If you know you are going to be away, please notify your teacher, or KR,
as your absence does affect lesson planning. If you are sick on class day, please try to notify
your teacher as early as possible. If you have not been able to reach your teacher before she leaves home,
you may call the S.H.C.C. 564-1062, between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. and ask to speak with your teacher or with KR. (For weekday evening classes call or e-mail your teacher during the day to notify her if you are unable to attend)
Refreshments:
Note: No food (especially peanut products) or gum are allowed
in any studio. Teachers will give water breaks during each class.
Attitude:
Come mentally and physically prepared to your class, so you can put forth 110% effort. You will then
be happy with yourself, and proud of your accomplishments.
Preparation:
Katharine and Teachers are pleased to help you with extra lessons for preparation for Cometitions and
Examinations. Start your lesson in plenty of time so that you will be ready and confident at the time
of the competition or the examination.
Information:
It is very important to check the information table every time you come to class for announcements about school activities; e.g. concerts, workshops, competitions, events.
